Silvia Ubieta ES

Silvia Ubieta began her dance training in Seville, continued it in Paris and completed it at P.A.R.T.S. She has worked as a dancer with choreographers such as Pierre Droulers, Veerle Bakelants, Thomas Plischke, Kosmas Kosmopoulos, Anabel Schellekens and Sara Goldfarb. At the same time, she developed a teaching career, specialising in contemporary dance, improvisation and composition. As a teacher, Silvia works for Michelle-Anne de Mey, Claudio Bernardo, the Flanders Ballet School, Charleroi-Danses/La Raffinerie, La Monnaie’s Education Department and the Dance section of the Arts and Humanities programme at Lycée Martin V, where she has developed a four-year educational programme for young dancers aged 14 to 18 who wish to enter a higher education dance school. Since 2007, Silvia has been a lecturer at ESAC – École supérieure des arts du cirque, where she acts as an artistic advisor, creative project assistant and dance teacher to students across a wide range of circus disciplines. She has collaborated on several occasions with the CNAC-Centre national des arts du cirque in France and the Circus Centrum in Ghent. In September 2025, she completed a master’s degree in Performing Arts at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles), where she was awarded a prize for her research project ‘Towards a dramaturgical writing of the moment: In search of tools for exploration and instant composition in the circus arts’.

Silvia has been practising Iyengar yoga with Stefan Dreher, Alexis Simon, Willy Bok and Thijsje Strypens since 1998. A few years later, she decided to train as a teacher and obtained her diploma in June 2009. Several stays in India, at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, enabled her to deepen her practice and teaching. Iyengar yoga trains body alignment using different supports during asana practice, and balance between mind, body, and spirit through awareness of pranayama, the breath.
